Animal Cruelty: The Dark Side of Humanity

I am sad today. After reading the news about the brutal murder of a pregnant elephant at Kerala. We felt sad for that elephant for two or three days or posted stories regarding inhumanity or animal cruelty and asked for justice. But the irony is that many of you had chicken for your dinner. You must have seen dangling of chickens, trapped parrots,  hunting of birds and selling their fur and the list goes on. Aren't they animals? Why are we still silent?

Do you know how cruel humans are?

The virtue of benevolence requires that we should be kind to animals as much as to our fellowmen. But humans have crossed their limits when news came from Kerala that a wild pregnant elephant strayed into a village near Silent Valley National Park in Palakkad and is suspected to have eaten a food item with firecrackers stuffed in it which some villagers gave her to eat. These firecrackers exploded in the elephant's mouth and in pain, this elephant walked for days in agony and died standing on 27 May.

When people from the whole world heard about this incident, people showed kindness towards this elephant. But what about those animals who suffer on a daily basis. You may sound it harsh but need to know that billions of chickens and goats are slaughtered for food in one day. If you are outraged over the killing of elephant and eating Tunday kebab on the weekends, then you are just against the way an animal should be killed not animal killing.

When one man oppresses another, the sufferer can utter his complaint; he can point out his oppressor, but when it comes to animals, Is it their fault that they can neither utter a complaint nor going to describe other of his wrong ? Superiority of position gives no right to inflict unnecessary pain to others.

How do we stop animal cruelty? What you can do?

Though there is a punishment against violation of the laws for animal cruelty still harsher punishments are needed so that the criminal would not even think to do the crime. Most of the time the punishment is not in proportion to the crime.

We should raise our voices for the voiceless so that an inhuman killer will be convicted for harming the innocent animals.

Be a Vegan:

It's a type of vegetarian diet that excludes meat, dairy products, eggs, and the food which is processed using animals.

So let's take an oath that "We will treat animals as we treat our fellowmen and make our mother earth a better place to live in."

By reading your blog, I feel everybody will try their level best to give justice to all these animals who can't speak for themselves...
