Have you ever used acids for cleaning purposes?
If you say yes, then you might know what happens when you drop acid on the floor. Just imagine what will happen if the same acid falls on your face?.... Don't worry the acids used for cleaning purposes are only 30% concentrated. But still, that acid can hospitalize you for almost two days. The acid used in acid attacks is almost 80 to 90% concentrated. It is so dangerous that one drop of it can even corrode steel.
In an interview, the victim said that when the acid falls on your face first it feels cold but later it feels like your skin is melting from your body, it burns a lot and your skin starts flowing like a liquid...it is so painful even if you imagine that.
Why acid attacks take place?
Hundreds of acid attacks are done every year in India . These incidents largely arise out of the rejection of unwanted male attention. Disgruntled fathers, jealous colleagues, disenchanted lovers or those seeking revenge against a family, make women their target.
Attackers will usually throw acid on the face, resulting in deformity and permanent injuries, like blindness. The treatment is a prolonged one and the victims go through several surgeries, each more painful than the one before. Scarred for life, they are ridiculed and feared and often held responsible for the attack not just by society, but also by their own families.
How acid can destroy dreams?
If I tell you that, "You can change anyone's life by just spending almost 30 rupees"......You might be thinking how it is possible? But yes, that is the average price of acid in our country. And, surely, acid can change anyone's life in a negative way.
Acid not only destroys the physical appearance but it pierces through your soul and destroys your self-esteem. Many acid attack victims attempted suicide since there was no hope for them to live, there loved ones left them, their jobs went due to their ugly physical appearance. All there dreams were corroded by a bottle of acid. In some cases the things went so worst that even families of the victims left them to die on street and beg for food.
