Mainly Poverty is considered an important factor for a child to work. Also, children are paid lower wages than adults, A child can even do more work than an adult in low wages.
Other main causes are unemployment, a large number of members in a family, illiteracy, etc.
The Indian government in 1986 formed the child labour prohibition and regulation act.

In 2015 a major amendment was made that children between 5-14 years are not to be employed.
Numerous NGOs and child rights activities are formed to tackle the problem of child labour. Spreading awareness among people, making them realize that a child should be educated and not made to work in fields. It destroys childhood.
